Welcome!
My name is Karlie, and I'm a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), and Certified Trauma Specialist.
My approach to therapy is attachment-based, trauma-informed, family systems-informed, and grounded in compassion. I believe that the challenges people experience rarely exist in isolation. Instead, they are shaped by relationships, life experiences, family dynamics, and the ways our nervous system learns to adapt over time.
What may appear on the surface as conflict, disconnection, rigidity, emotional intensity, difficulty trusting others, or feeling stuck often represents coping strategies that developed for important reasons. Rather than viewing these responses as flaws or problems to eliminate, I see them as meaningful adaptations that once served a protective purpose. Together, we can explore these patterns with curiosity, understanding, and compassion.
My work is also informed by parts work, which recognizes that we all have different parts of ourselves that emerge in different situations. Instead of judging these parts, therapy creates space to understand their roles, appreciate how they've tried to help, and build a more compassionate relationship with yourself.
I don't believe therapy is about fixing who you are. Rather, it's about helping you better understand yourself, reduce shame, strengthen self-compassion, and create meaningful, lasting change in ways that feel safe, authentic, and sustainable.
